On a visit to The Prince of Wales in Cardiff this weekend we were amazed to find a brillliant cider selection in this Wetherspoons pub...

- Litre bottles of delicious Sheppys Oakwood
- Westons Vintage from manucubes
- Thatchers Perry in wine bottles
- Westons Single Variety and Organic ciders.

My first thought was "great, but why do the Welsh get all these decent ciders and not us?". However, it appears this is a widespread occurance, The Berkeley in Bristol has a poster outside advertising all these ciders above, plus Westons Old Rosie and Magners (ugh). Also states "little known fact - perry is made from pears", im not sure if this is a joke or not. But all this is generally great news, has anyone else spotted these exciting changes???

Excellent idea. Do they serve blokes in leather and bushy 'taches, or will I have to go incognito (you cheeky *******)?

I visited The Pomeller’s Rest (Wetherspoon’s) on Tower Bridge Road last night. I would have invited Ivanhoe, but I believe he was at one of his Gay Pride meetings, so myself and another lesbian went off looking for cider. We spoke to a very knowledgeable barman who told us that they did have manucubes of cider, but until they had a chiller cabinet delivered for them, they weren’t going to serve any. We drank some of the Weston’s bottled ciders, and had a couple of flagons of the Sheppey’s which was very good indeed, although I’m not a big fan of medium ciders. Ivanhoe, we should meet up there soon.

And you will know us by the trail of empties....

I've not been in a Wetherspoons for ages, but I will make an effort now. Cheers for the tip-off.
