I'm hoping I've converted a pub landlord to the delights of JJJ so the next step is to convince him to strike a deal with john "westcroft" harris to get a few 5gal poly-barrels in the cider fridge.. He needs a bit of eductaion mind - he stores Thatchers in OPEN JARS in the fridge at the moment

He's at the Stoke Inn, Chew Stoke. Also provides free cheese and onions on the bar - what more can you ask for? And it's a free house so some half decent ales too. Oh yeah, he provides a taxi service as well, so no problems getting back to Bris / Nailsea.

PS if you haven't been down to Wescroft recently - get there now. Mr Harris had just opened a new barrel and it is the best tasting juice ever so I recently got 4 gallons of the stuff, only limited by the amount of cash I had on me at the time..

Minibus for 8 booked, leaving the Coronation at 6pm and picking up from West Croft at 11.45pm. It's roughly £10 each if we get all 8 seats filled.

I figure if we get to Brent Knoll a bit early the minibus can drop us off at the pub just down the road from the farm.

I'm off to practice my pagan chanting in any case...

We got 8 of us going from the Nailsea/South Bristol area so i doubt one minibus will be enough so its probably best we go on and book an 8 seater for ourselves, and you get 1 to go back to your neck of the woods? We'll try and get it from 6:30 from Coronation, returning from west Croft at 12-ish.

Im sure the ticket thing will be ok, but if you want to check he has enough places i found his phone number here: http://www.burnham-on-sea.co.uk/west_croft_cider/

Hippo may need to extra tickets then, he made have another 9 so that could be a 15 seater, he will ring you when he gets back, he has extended his stay here by another week.

If you read this Hippo - how many of you lot are coming? Do you want to get a minibus again? We have 6 or 7 people so far and were thinking of meeting in The Coronation for a couple and then heading down to JJJ about 6:30. Lord Lucan is planning to book a minibus soon but we'll need to know numbers first so let me know if you lot are up for it.

Can't believe its only a week and a bit away now!

affriad not, hippo is here right now and was asking, hope (i know you will) you have a great time.
Gents Posted - 30/12/2005 : 10:19:53
Yeah there are only 4 or 5 of us going but I asked for ten cos i guessed Hippo and some more of your lot would fill up the remaining places, should be no problem asking for more then ten places anyway, he hadn't even started his list when i was there.

Are you jetting back for it then?

it's in the Chew Valley between Chew magna and West Harptree.

I'm definitely up for the Wassail and trying to drum up a bit of interest here too.

I would certainly like to take a taxi ride to this cheese and cider heaven soon. No idea where Chew Stoke is but im sure its cycleable.

Was actually down at JJJ saturday so i might have had some of the same barrel, he told me it was the last of the 2004 pressing. Also reserved 10 places for Wassailing so if anyone is interested let me know, apparently its much the same as last year except there may be an extra band. You'll all be pleased to know the Belly Dancers are back!
