Having seen your "Feed the Welsh" campaign, I know that you're a philanthropic bunch on HMZ, reaching out to our less fortunate neighbours and all that. I can also see that you're very proud of your roots in the Peoples' Republic of WestCountrySetShire, and I get the feeling that you might not like our cousin(e)s across the Channel (English, not Bristol).

So I'm a bit nervous about telling you this, but.....

....we're off on a cider holiday in France soon and I wondered whether any of you had been to Normandy/Brittany and had any recommendations (other than "wash your hands afterwards" and "don't drink the cider without boiling it first")?

I've got the list of producers from ukciderwiki, and have found that in Normandy there are perry producers around Domfront and cider producers around Cambremer (with a Route du poire and a Route du cidre). I'm not having much luck finding any links for Britanny cider or perry. All help gratefully received.

Cheers Gents.

Good link for Kerisac. We might try to go there. If we do I will avoid this product: "Jus de pomme gazéifié Pom’Pizz".

I'm not sure what it has to do with Santa either. Perhaps it's one of their strange Breton traditions.

I think that obviously most of us think the French are bunch of gits, like the rest of the world do, but I love their ciders, they are absolutely delicious and its a shame you can't get more of them in England so easily (most places Ive seen them on sell are quite nice restaurants, which i dont often visit much at all).

Most of the French ciders i have seen more than once and can actually remember the names of are probably the more bigger-name, widely available ones, so Im not sure if you'd be so interested in searching out the places that produce them but my favourite is Kerisac http://www.kerisac.com/ which is made in Brittany.

There is also a nice one you can buy in Sainsburys which i think is this one - http://www.linternaute.com/femmes/guides/fiche/862/cidre_brut.html although the bottle looks different. Looks like thats made in Normandy.

You can also buy Bayeux Cider and another French one at Bristol Wine Company in Victoria Street, for any French Cider fans based in Bristol.

Sounds like it'll be a fantastic trip. I've always wanted to do a big cycling/cider tour of France and Northern Spain so Im very jealous. Have a good one.

I found these wise words on Kerisac's website: L'ABUS D'ALCOOL EST DANGEREUX POUR LA SANTÉ. A CONSOMMER AVEC MODÉRATION. Not sure what it means, or what its got to do with Santa but hopefully it may help.
