My opinion on the final is that the following people are s**t:
Zenden
Pennant
Benitez (leave your top scorer on the bench, play Europe's best centre midfield out of position, tactical genius!)
William Gaylord from Uefa
Liverpool fans trying to get in without tickets - will they ever learn. Like it or 17,000 is a pretty decent allocation for a major cup final nowadays, compares pretty well with the 5000 we'd have got in the world cup final.
Foreign police (although at times our own aren't much better in the same situation). |

UEFA are a complete joke.
They might aswell blame Liverpool, because they couldn't possibly be at fault!
They display an unbelievable contempt of English football fans at club and international level, and their arrogance has to be seen to be believed.
It's about time they were accountable for their f**k ups.
They were lucky they didn't have a full scale riot on their hands.
Imagine spending £1000 to go and watch your team in a cup final only to be told "Sorry the stadium is full".
Just as long as they keep getting their backhanders they're happy. |

I've read the article too. I think some Liverpool fans have been stupid, and it makes the theory that Liverpool fans are 'some of the best fans in the world' look a bit shakey.
What it also proves is that Liverpool have as many Glory Fans as any one else. Why else would 40,000 fans try and get into a stadium where they offically only had 17,000?!?
Saying that though, I heard the interview on the radio with the guy from UEFA, and he was a complete tosser!

Yep it pains me to say but LFC squad isn’t currently good enough. However, LFC were well in control in the 1st half before they let in that soft goal on half time. Second half was disappointing but I can see why Benitez didn’t make any drastic changes because they were controlling the game for long periods. They were also creating chances… Pennant, Gerrard and Alonso all had good opportunities to score and apart from the two Milan goals they didn’t create anything. So overall I guess the difference was a bit of luck for the 1st goal and a bit of class for 2nd.
I think our best player was Mascherano again… hope LFC hold onto him.

I think that up until half time, Benitez got his tactics perfect.
We stopped Milan from playing, and we created chances, but then Milan got a lucky goal, and things had to change.
After half time perhaps Crouch could have come on earlier, maybe Bellamy could have played wide instead of Kewell, but at the end of the day we didn't have the cutting edge to finish off Milan, and win the game which i feel we deserved to. |

Don't Panic Jammer, Here I am!!
First off, I thought that it was a pretty poor game last night. As Smithy said, Rafa got it wrong, and playing 1 up front with a 5 man midfield played completley into Milans hands. The Milan centre backs have a combined age of 371, so why not play to strikers and move them about the pitch, and create some space?!?
The fact he didn't go with Crouches height, or Bellamys pace, along side Kuyt, shows that like in the FA Cup final, the manager was too scared to loose.
The other thing I noticed about last nights game, was something I, and many others have said, lots of times before. The Liverpool squad just isn't good enough. Despite Pennant running arund alot, but not really doing anything, the only Liverpool player that looked capable of creating something was, you've guessed it: Steven Gerrard!!
And by the way shippers, I was actually Singing You'll Never Win Again!

well if he is shipping out zenden why did he start him last night!! And you know as well as i do, you wont get as much money as you need to be able to compete with united and chelsea next season... maybe the one after, not the next one! |

Haha Benitez was going nuts after the ref blew early!
I was listening to five live this morning with people criticizing Benitez decisions. It’s all about opinions and it’s easier to have an opinion after a game. To be honest I think Benitez has done a great job this season getting LFC to the CL final with the players he currently has to pick from.
I myself am looking forward to the clear out and finally a chance to compete in the transger market with the scum and Chelski rent boys. On the LFC website today there is already news of Gonzalez going to Real Betis (Ole, Ole, Ole Betis!) and Zenden being allowed to talk to other clubs.
p.s. I witnessed Maddog sing YNWA last night. Once a red always a red!!!

yeah for once in footballing terms i agree with you tone!!
Crouch probably should have been on from the start with gerrard on the right, as pennant is also horse sh!t and he left it far far to long before he got him on. I thought liverpool looked good in the first half but for some reason in the second they didnt look as if they wanted it enough and it was all a bit flat! Harry kewell was awful.. fact. All he did was fall over!!!
Who knows what would have happened if the ref had played those last 20secs eh?? |
