Shippers - You always told me Liverpools fan's are the best. Its funny how UEFA are saying "Reds fans labelled Europe's worst"

Maybe they will go to fans in the future, but Hicks has been tied into agreements and contracts made before his time. Hopefully this will change.

I think the point he was getting at, and i think so are many others including myself, and that is why hold it in a mediuam sized ground when there are dozens in europe that can hold so many more???

UEFA try and spread it around so as to be seen as fair and promoting football across Europe, but maybe they should be saying to countries building new grounds for events like the Olympics "Hey, if you ever want us to play there you need it to be at least 80k".

That Tom Hicks is a bit of a wanker!

"Uefa did not handle this right at all. To give 17,000 tickets to the two teams, particularly knowing Liverpool are going to bring 40,000 fans, is insane."

What does he expext? To be given 40,000 just cos fans are going to travel? What if 60,000 were going? should they have got all the tickets? Also Was it not Liverpool FC who gave 6,000 tickets to players, sponsers, corporate etc etc? Surely these should have gone to the real fans?

From the BBC website...

Uefa president Michael Platini has denied that Liverpool fans are the worst-behaved in Europe.

Uefa spokesman William Gaillard made the claim after trouble at the Champions League final, but Platini has now backtracked on those remarks.

"No they are not the worst behaved in Europe," said Platini. "It's official, they are not the worst behaved."

p.s. Maddog... which player will leave the blue and white s**te first, Cahill or Johnson?!

Ships, maybe the new job has given me some common sense.

Do you want a job?!?

I may agree with you that UEFA are wrong, but I still think Liverpool are s**t!

Easy tiger! You don't want to go and injure yourself again! You'll end up with a knee jerk reaction!

Who’s claiming to be the No 1 supporter of their team?! That’s a funny comment to throw into the thread Dave!

If you’re trying to make the point of people supporting a team outside of Bristol then I would quite happily bite at that!

p.s. Maddog your new job must of given you a dose of commonsense too! Mostly good and fair points.

Thanks Jim, you font of all knowledge ( or to put it another way, ya bast**d!) I didn't really have a clue about the finer details, I just get bored of all these West Country people claiming to be the No.1 supporters of big Premierdhip teams from here, there & everywhere. I do remember, though, that on the back of an impressive performance in the Anglo-Scottish, we bought Tony Fitzpatrick from St. Mirren. Anyway, COME ON CITY!!! ( & Berwick, of course )!

I was not saying I agree with UEFA. I am just saying that Liverpool fans are clearly not the best in the world as ships keep pointing out as they behave worse than other English clubs in Europe!

UEFA have a lot to answer for, but as shipway like to mention history every 5 mins then lets look at your fans history! always causing trouble!

Liverpool Fans = Worse in the World!!!

Sorry for my delayed reply to this topic, but as I started a new job today, I thought it would be a bit rude to abuse their internet policy on my first day!

Anyway, here we go.......

I really hate to say it, and am feeling a bit sick writing this, but I ALMOST agree with the Liverpool fans on this. Almost:

It seems to me that UEFA are just diverting everyones attention regarding the valid questions about safety and security at the game, by once again blaming the English.

To the best of my knowledge there has been little or no trouble at a Football match stage in England or Scotland for many years now, and I'm staggered that UEFA can't follow the British method of policing football matches. Its probably a more general anti british feeling that is rife across Europe than anything actually to do with football.

Having said that Liverpool fans are not without blame. How hard could it be to find out what facilities were being laid on for fans without tickets before travelling? Also, if you haven't got a ticket, why travel to the stadium and try to get in the ground? I've also heard stories of Liverpool fans mugging each other for tcikets! that is shocking, and gives England a bad name, and in my opinion, leaves Liverpool with very little credibilty.

to sum up then; UEFA havent got a clue what they are doing, and should admit that the English do, and some Liverpool fans are a disgrace to this glorious Nation, and should find the nearest tall building, and do the decent thing. Jump.

I think your memory must be going a bit Bracer!
It was the 90s when City were in the Anglo-Italian cup.We never won it though.
It was the Anglo-Scottish cup we won, beating St Mirren in 1978.
We had 2 away games in the Anglo-Italian, v Pisa and Cremonese, which we lost and drew respectively. As I remember it about 500 City fans went to the Pisa game. I'm sure they caused plenty of trouble too!!

Back to the point, Scousers are scum and cause trouble wherever they go, and well done UEFA for recognising this.

The reason Liverpool fans have been involved in most incidents in Europe, is because we've played more times in Europe than most!

23 incidents over 4 years is not a lot. Like T said, "What constitutes an incident".

Isn't it a little bit coincidental that this report has come out in the week that Richard Caborn (sports minister) is due to meet with Michel Platini regarding the inadequate organisation at the Champions league final?

It's a case of UEFA trying to blame everyone but themselves.
Bracer Posted - 04/06/2007 : 15:09:46
Jammer, what's this "us" and "we" business? I thought we'd established that you supported Rovers! Or was that just the other week-end. When City played in Europe back in the 80's (the magnificent Anglo-Italian Cup!!! which we won by the way, beating St.Mirren???), we had absolutely NO TROUBLE! Both the fans who went to Italy had a great time!
T-Man Posted - 04/06/2007 : 13:27:06
Tone,

I think you may have mis-interpreted the claim here. "Liverpool have the worse fans in the world" based on UEFA saying there have been 23 incidents since 2003.

What constitutes an "incident"?? For all we know it could be drunken disorderly arrest, fake ticket scam etc. Non of this compares to fans from Italy, Turkey or France who actively go out a stab other fans to death (too many examples here to list) and we certainly know that Liverpool fans DON'T do this!!!

On the other hand i DO think Liverpool fans do have to shoulder some of the blame as they obviuosly bought fake tickets knowing that fans who had bought proper tickets would be left outside, but you tell me one English club or any club that won't do this. In addition this includes the fans that just blagged their way in. It shouldn't be tolerated.

BUT UEFA are the worst. WHO stages a massive final at a stadium without turnstiles or any way of counting how many fans are inside the ground. It is absolutely unbelieveable!!!!!!! They need to take a long hard look at themselves.
Smithy Posted - 04/06/2007 : 11:52:32
Ships and Dog, you are missing my point.

I know as well as you that when England fans travel abroad we are treated very very badly and yes I agree that there are countries who have serious issues with trouble and they seem to get away with it every time.

Im just saying that out of the English clubs in Europe your fans have let the country down more times than most. Therefore how have you got "the best fans in the world"??

Well we cant all be well behaved like arsenal in europe can we?! We lead by example when we are in europe, you never ever get any trouble with us.

I do think this 'report' is harsh considering what does go on in italy and spain. But 23 different incidents in 4 years is a hell of a lot!! Every club has their nutters and looks like the minority of the liverpool fans are the worst!
