Posted - 11/05/2004 : 19:32:01 Bit of Glasto ticket nightmare all over again with the online tickets tonight, but only an hour and a half this time! Got tickets in the EastEnd for me, Tays, Odd & MadDog - its unreserved in there so if anyone fancies joining us should still be able to get a group of Nailsea Firm sat together to intimidate the Geordies!

Posted - 21/05/2004 : 14:42:35 I think we could all sympathise with the Hartlepool fans and players after the game, the City supporters gave them a standing ovation when they left the pitch (something we rarely even give our own team!), and you had to feel sorry for the supporters trudging back to their cars with a six hour journey ahead of them on a wednesday night.
Andy King is stupid to say "Of all the semi-finalists, the worst two clubs got through to the final", maybe based on the 2 semi-final games he was right - Hartlepool definitely deserved to win our tie - but like the Free Lovester says, us and Brighton finished 3rd and 4th so over the 46 league games this year we deserve to be there.
COME ON!

Posted - 21/05/2004 : 13:51:45 Saw the last half hour of your play off on Sky, and saw the manager's comments.
(I'm a rugby League fan, and don't claim to know naff all about football, but) I was very impressed with the comments your manager came up with after the match. Sounded like a really genuine bloke who had a lot of respect for the other team and could sympathise with how gutted they must have been feeling at the time.
Anyway, GOOD LUCK to your boys.

Posted - 21/05/2004 : 09:42:41 Yeah coz Swindon Hartlepool would've been a footballing spectacle! One thing's for sure, they would've definitely had to open the roof, and the pitch-side seats would be the last to sell!

Posted - 21/05/2004 : 08:17:52 I think Andy King must must be drinking from the same cup as Neale Cooper by declaring.....
"Of all the semi-finalists, the worst two clubs got through to the final."
Ok Andy, so that would be the two clubs that finished 3rd and 4th this season! Anyone else for a glass of sour milk!?!?!

Posted - 20/05/2004 : 11:48:54 Whoever wrote that article was sat in the East End, and had about as much clue as us what happened with the goals. Cooper is an idiot, presumably as the Hartlepool fans cheered and were singing when they scored that was because they had scored against the best side in the world. It did have the feel of a cup tie about it, like a plucky non-league team almost nicking an upset. As Roberts said we didnt deserve on the night, but over the season we do. And with all the late goals this year it was probably inevitable we'd get a crucial one. Hopefully the final will be a stroll and no need for lat minute drama! Looks like we got away with pitch invasion, apparently there was one at Huddersfield as well. It was no worse than what happened at Barnsley when they all came on, I think as long as the away team dont get a battering teams get away with it. Couldn't hear the other stands most of the game, but I think that is more due to the acoustics of the East End than anything else.
Tony Robinson sounded like a girl.

Posted - 20/05/2004 : 11:46:34 I thought the atmosphere last night was good. It went quiet when Hartlepool scored, but when city scored the Dolman was rocking, when they scored the second, unbelievable.
Fair play to the Hartlepool fans, they made a fair bit of noise. |

Posted - 20/05/2004 : 09:46:36 What a game! It's nice to be the ones getting last minute winners for once. Those who went, was it a good atmosphere? Didn't sound that loud on tv. Looks like we're going to get away with the masspicth invation and preventing Hartlepool getting to the chagning rooms for half an hour!
A completely unbiased reaction: "I think we dominated the game and deserved to win. Did you hear the reaction of the Bristol City fans at the final whistle? It was like they had just beaten the best side in Britain!" Neale Cooper - No mate, that might have something to do with the fact we just got to the playoff final! Idiot.
There official site also describes Robert's goal like this: "The City golakeeper fired goal kick deep into his own half which was picked up by Roberts, who hit a shot from the edge of the box and past Provett, to send the home side through to Cardiff" - So Roberts scored from the edge of our area? Sounds a cracker, wish I'd seen that goal rather than the one where Roberts took it into the area and nutmegged the keeper from 8 yards!

Posted - 17/05/2004 : 15:01:27 Will probably get some food in Lloyds at 5:15 after work then get bus to wedlocks, we did this for the plymouth game and the Wedlocks wasn't too busy when we got there about 6:15ish.
More Mickey Bell spotting: Farmhouse last night at around 7:30

Posted - 17/05/2004 : 13:20:47 Having just been to the ground to pick up tickets my prediction is it will be a miracle if the game kicks off on time! The 4000 interent tickets are just in bundles of envelopes, sorted into alphabetical order. It took them about 5 mins to find mine. Assuming about half the people with these tickets decide to pick them up on the night it is going to be chaos.
Leroy Lita the nice chap pulled over to let me into the car park - bit of city player spotting to make matty p jealous!
Haven't heard whether the cheat Mickey Bell is joining the Nailsea crew for the home leg or sticking with his colleagues.
What pub shall we meet in before the game? I should be at the ground for about 5.30. Wedlocks will probably be ok then but might get very busy later, shall we go for that or somewhere else in Ashton/ Bedminster?
