Posted - 20/05/2004 : 17:57:57 I've been thinking about this today, and have decided Roberts has been reclaimed by the English from the urchins on the other side of the bridge.
Clean through in injury time he had the following choice: a) drag the shot narrowly wide, deny City a place in the playoff final, but guarantee himself his first Welsh cap b) nutmeg the keeper, send Ashton Gate wild, City off to his home town in the home of promotion, and not have to play for Wales.
He choose b), and the crowd recognised his conversion to the English by chairing him off the pitch. In his interview on the City website he even said "It means I can't play for Wales but I don't care about that". Damn right, he wants to be the next Michael Owen, he wants to actual play in an International tournament.
With St George in his heart keep him English.
