I think I'd rather take the risk and have a go at becoming the big club that we could be. It may be an amateurish report but its true. If we were in the prem then people would come from miles around, even south wales! Just look at how many travel hours to get to the Mall!
We'd obviously have to pay higher ticket prices coz that's the way the world works, you can't expect to still pay £17 in the Prem. I say do it if we can, I'm fed up of all these sh1tty litle towns getting in the prem when a big city like Bristol has none - Portsmouth, Bolton, Blackburn, Sunderland, Norwich, Ipswich... the list goes on.
We deserve it, let's have a go.

I think the nature of the whole thing is odd, the way he has approached the media about it when he apparently knows Lansdown well. Clubs normally keep quiet about things like this, or just make "hands off" type statements, but Lansdown speaks out very quickly in the same article saying he would be interested to speak to people with money to invest. Some conspiracy theories on the City forum think that the Club has set up the story to try and attract offers, probably rubbish, but got me thinking.
This "Perrenial Underachievers" document they mention has been widely available, Maguire even sent a copy to the Incider website! You can download it from a post on the City forum, and its rubbish! Really amature report that i wouldn't have handed in a GCSE project!
All Maguire seems to be saying boils down to-
- City have potential to get bigger crowds than they do, and sell more merchandise than they currently do, if they get to the Premiership.
- They could get to the Premier by spending £13million
This is obvious! We have all known this for years. He is not even saying that he is putting any cash in himself, just saying he thinks he could raise it off businessmen, who would then own the club and want some return from it. Im not sure about the whole thing.
Im pretty sure he means the ticket prices will double if we do reach the Premier, not now.

Sounds similar to what we were told when Scott Davidson took over. City fans have heard this sort of thing so many times before, I'll believe it when we're in the Premiership.
This particular statement has some pretty alarming comments in it though, almost a win or bust attitude that could go VERY pear-shaped.
For example this idea of raising the wage bill, from £4m to £10m I think the figures were - this is a gamble that simply has to pay off or the club would disappear.
Also not sure why he thinks the ticket prices need to go up as well as the £30m to be invested. Don't think that would be too popular, at the moment our prices are relatively high for the division we're in, again if we're top of the league it might work, but if we're not then the gates would soon drop.
New money would of course be good, but I think Lansdown's doing a pretty good job, whilst this Jon Maguire seems to be talking a bit more with his heart than his head at the moment.

Why does that seem odd to you Gentz, that all looks offcial with the boards response in the main news page too. Maybe we could buy a defence that can defend set pieces rather than buying 24 strikers.
