Lasts Thursday's gig is reviewed in this weeks Venue:

“With emo's name blackened by snivelling over-sincerity from pasty-faced oiks who couldn't get the girl (as well as the near-mandatory cheap hair dye), Bristol's Treehouse Burning are unknowing anti-heroes; a tonic to the dour persona of recent American imports. Wide eyed and beaming with daytime TV presenter smiles, TB breeze through 30 minutes of unabashed pop-glee, summer-bright Britpop melodies floating over svelte, skinny-fit angular dynamics. "Too Much Chemistry" treads the line between Supergrass and Blink 182-style falling down the stairs pop, while "Chicks Dig Scars' sums up the atmosphere of innocent tension release, as much as revealing TBs fondness for pop-geniuses Weezer. Sure, they bring little new to the table. And sure, TB are the candy-pop of emo, a sugar frosted 'Gold Against the Soul' era Manics.
But like fawning doe-eyed at your friends kid sister or groping your girlfriends arch nemesis when her back is turned, Treehouse Burning are a guily pleasure. Equally, though, like all forbidden fruit, their unashamed pop-nuggets are near irresistible.”
