Hi all, new to the forum..please be gentle.

I need to buy about 60 green champagne bottles to put my first brew of cider in. Anyone know anywhere that sells them.... I am in Dumfriesshire (South Scotland)

Thanks
David

Garry,

Thanks for that link. I will check it out in detail later. I am in a place called Ecclefechan, Nr Lockerbie, Dumfrissehire. I have views out over the Solway, can you see me waving?

Hi Gents,

Thanks for that. I have a Wilkinsons nearby and have bought most of my kit from there already. Sadly they do not seem to do "pressure" bottles.

I want to make sparkling cider, and last time, used "champagne" style with plastic corks and wire downs. I have used 2 litre plastic "pop" bottles in the past which works, but the size is a problem, and they are a bit naff. I suppose one solution would be Grolsch" style bottles with re-useable tops/seals. What does everyone else use for sparkling cider?

Perhaps I should be going round the local pubs and scrounging from there empties!

David.

Welcome to the forum David, dont worry "gentle" is my middle name, sort of.

Not really sure of a place that would definitely sell those bottles, especially in Scotland, but we got a lot of wine-style bottles from Wilkinsons last year. They have quite a lot of home-brew equipment so they may be worth a look if you have those stores in Scotland (we've got loads of them round here).

Good luck
