most popular latest rumours are saying Stevie Wonder. Scissor Sisters have announced they definitely aren't playing.

I was just shouting and swearing and my computer! Thank f**k for that, I was all set to write some sort of boycotting post. It did sound a bit unlikey though that Stone Roses wanted to do a reunion gig. But I think it says a lot for the last few years that it didn't sound too unbelievable!

I saw the text you sent to Neil yesterday Boxhall, think you were fooled for a bit! I think the Stone Roses part of it isn't necessarily a wind-up though, as I've read other rumours of that. Obviously Ian Brown is due to be headlining the Other Stage that night, he's now playing lots of old Roses songs which would make for a big improvement on his previous appearance. And apparently Mani was on stge with him at a recent gig, and John Squire is quoted somewhere as saying he thinks they'll reform at some point. But whether it could all be done within a month seems unlikely to me. Think the best bet is still between Faithless and Clapton. |

Looks like The Killers are moving to Sunday and Keane are rumoured to replace their Friday slot.
On the Stone Roses reforming, John Squire has said that he wants them to reform after making one last solo album. It was on the REAL nme yesterday.

I would be dissapointed with the Killers. Whether you like them or not, they have only released one album.
We are talking about closing one of the biggest music festivals in the world, surely we could do better than the Killers?

As much as i really like the Killers this is a real cop-out, they could have got SOMEONE in to do it - theyve got weeks! And if they were going to move anyone - why not someone with a few albums under their belts who more people would have heard of? (New Order, Elvis Costello, Brian Wilson (he had written 11 albums by the time he was 24 and could have filled an hour and a half set with songs everyone on site would know).
Oh well, who cares, its gonna be amazing anyway and in 4 weeks we'll be there.

The big acts seem to have turned it down out of respect for Kylie or self-respect in that they dont want to be 2nd choice, which you can't argue with even though it is a shame. Oasis & Coldplay both headlined after 1 album so it might be good. Doesn't necessarily rule out the chances of Mani & maybe even John Squire joining Ian Brown at the same time on the Other Stage though. Will save any big decisions til we have the full timetable, which is looking like it might be as we walk through the gate.

I may stand corrected but I don't think Hot Fuss will go down in hostory alongside the other two. Also, Coldplay had their second album written just no one knew it.
Have to agree with Gents that Brian Wilson or Elvis would be a much better choice.

I'm well chuffed, I'd much rather see the Killers than any of the other bands mentioned. As James says, the article says that everyone big that they asked wouldn't do it. I appreciate that you love Brian Wilson, but personally I think the Beach Boys were pretty s**t and I wouldn't watch him if he was on.
I don't think there is anything wrong with headlining after one album as long as the album is good enough. In a way I think it's better because you can't moan that they don't play their best songs.
Coldpay were brilliant when they headlined (the new album was known about by the way and In My Place had already been released) and I'm sure the Killers will be too.

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but Elvis is dead.
The worst thing about this announcement is that if effectively leaves Glasto a band light, as Keane move into the Killers' slot, presumbly all other bands will also just shuffle up the order, and there will either be 1 band less or something crap at the start. On the other hand you could just say there's no less good bands playing than there were in the first place! Either way, remember the festival closes with a cider bus singalong, a huge fire ,and maybe even another egg-finding mission, so who's last on the stage is not that important!

And now this from efestivals:
Despite Glastonbury Festivals' own website recently confirming that The Killers would be playing the Sunday headline slot on the Pyramid Stage, the article has now been removed, and the situation has changed again.
Currently, The Killers are NOT going to be playing on the Sunday, but negotiations are continuing, and it might still happen. However, after all the media fuss this morning, and the sudden withdrawal of the confirmation, we think it's now likely that another act might well move into the slot. Who it might be is still in the air. |

If you look at the timings of the posts, you will see I was typing my original views on the Killers headlining while Rich was putting the link on saying they werent, then I immediately found the efestivals story, and reproduced it for everyone's information, and hadnt noticed Rich had posted the link in the meantime as it was above my post. Whilst the other week Rich put a story on, and about 2 hours later you put the same thing on, with no other posts in between! Chav. |
