can any one tell me where i could get a small amunt of apples suitable for cider in yorkshire or if any supermarket apples will do thanks

We make cider in London (only around 100 gallons - we share it amongst a bunch of us). What we've done for the last two years is hire a van and get apples from Gloucestershire.

I put a free ad in the Hereford Times last year and we could have had apples for free if we had time to pick them. In the end it was easy getting mixed cider fruit for around GBP 70 per tonne.

thanks for that martin gives me a few more ideas however ive found a small orchard in yorkshire that grow a few cider apples should ease the fuel bill
