I can’t believe how wrong the journalists are getting the Rooney incident from the other night.

Rooney wasn’t singled out; he was just the only one who had the balls to turn around and listen to the fans. To be honest the Chelski rent boys got the most abuse but kept their heads down or pretended they were on the phone. JT also showed his leadership skills!!!

Also, from what I could hear the guy shouting across to Rooney wasn’t shouting abuse or swearing he was just put across some home truths about the whole team. I personally didn’t see Rooney stick his figures up I just heard him questioning the guy if he played or something!!! Just a kid with no real answer!

To be fair I think the fans realized that he was one of the only ones that looked bothered. It also pains me to say that Neville was also another who played with pride and he even had the balls to jump over the boards to come and clap to the fans. Top professional.

McClaren is crap! Not an intelligent comment but it fits!!!

p.s. Smithy has promised to never by the scum again!

Agree with everything Ships has just said (I never thought I would ever say that!!)

As for the Scum Newspaper. I cannot understand why they are giving Robbo so much stick. What did they want him to do? Aim his kick slightly higher incase the ball jumped up? They are just making him a scapegoat.

McClaren is a useless git. He was saying that he will do everything to get it right! Lets hope this means he is going to quit!!

Today's Times has it about right in terms of what was said and done. The Rooney thing was just before we got to the top of the stand to join in the abuse, people were saying he'd just done it. Just a shame the stewards moved us on before Ginger Sven emerged!

A couple of England players were quoted as being particularly offended by being called shiiite by someone with a fake scouse accent!

I don't really think you can blame the players too much. They tried hard, but were playing an unfamiliar formation, with most of the first choice mid field missing. If it hadn't been for one mistake from Robinson, and a freak goal, we'd have come away with a point and everyone would be happy (ish!)

I Just can't believe MacClaren thought it was a good Idea to try a new formation in the toughest away game of the qualifiers, and thing That Neville can play as a wing back!

Talk sport Radio had a phone in vote after the game, and over 70% of callers wsaid they wanted Maclaren gone. I agree!

I did feel sorry for some of the players but there were far too many of them who just strolled around the pitch like spoilt little kids!

Sorry Phil, but Im with Ships on this one. I think that the players should take a lot of the blame.

It should be an honour to wear the England shirt but they played as if they didnt care. Most of the time they just walked around the pitch like it was a friendly.

I see your point Tone, but it seemed to me that because of the formation a lot of the players didn't know what they were supposed to be doing.
Shippers says he thought Neville played with pride but I thought he was shocking. He tried hard, but really didn't look like he knew what he was doing, because he was playing out of position. The only person to blame for that, is the person who chose the formation. Maclaren.
Add to that two relative new comers to the team, in Carrick and Parker, again playing in an unfamiliar formation, and you end up with the shambles that we saw.
I'm amazed he decided to change the formation. The majority of the players in the squad play in a variation of a 4 4 2 formation for their clubs, and have played a 4 4 2 for England years so I think changing to a 3 5 2 for such a big game is stupid. Especially when you consider the recent poor performances. We haven't played well for the last few games, but to me it would have been better to stick with what everyone is used to for big games. MacLaren hasn't got a clue!

But who picks players who don't care and fails to motivate them properly!? Who, incidentally, also drink halves in the pub!

The whole Beckham things was a joke too, too drop a player of that standard from the squad entirely just to stamp your authority is a dangerous game, as with so many players injured I expect McLaren would love to have him back but doesn't want to lose face.
