With Glastonbury just 6 weeks away I have been working hard on this year’s fire album. I have 15 tracks so far, I need help choosing the last 2 or 3 please.

So far I have:

Scooter – Fire
Electric Six – Electric Demons of Love
Spiritualised – On Fire
The Pixies - Dig for Fire
Lost Prophets - Burn Burn
Radio 4 - Start a Fire
Super Furry Animals – Fire in my heart
Iggy Pop – Fire Engine
Foo Fighters – Burn Away
Nine Inch Nails – Burn
Deep Purple – Into the Fire
Sterophonics – 1000 Trees (included ironically!)
Stone Roses – Something Burning
The Cure – Burn

As you can see some pretty good bands (with the obvious exception), although maybe not the best know songs! Ideally I’d like to keep the quality pretty high, but may have to decide what is the best of the rest! I don’t want to include any of the tracks from last year’s album again, these were:

Prodigy – Firestarter (Crazy world of Ricardino Remix)
Electric Six – Danger Danger!
Leftfield – Open Up
REM – The One I love
Crazy World of Arthur Brown – Fire
U2 – The Unforgettable Fire
Ash – Burn Baby Burn
Jimi Hendrix – Fire
NOFX – We threw gasoline on the fire and now we have stumps for arms and no eyebrows
Blink 182? – The roof is on fire
Billy Joel – We didn’t start the fire
Talking Heads – Burning down the house
Midnight Oil – Beds are burning
Johnny Cash – Ring of Fire
Duran Duran – A View to a Kill
The Kinks – Light my fire
Vangelis – Chariots of Fire

Although if I’m struggling next year maybe it’ll be time for a “best of” collection!

One last thing the version of Burn Away by the Foo Fighters I have isnt that great quality - bit like listening to it on Virgin - so if anyone has the album or a better version I'd be grateful if you could send it to me please - cheers.

I still think The Crazy World of Arthur Brown is pivotal as a solid foundation for any credible fire album (despite being on last years album) it should be a solid fixture.

How about the Franz Ferdinand track seeing as they are playing as well - This fire is out of control, im gonna burn this city.....

The Franz and Coral tracks are definitely good shouts. "Fire" by the Chilis is a cover of the Hendrix song on last year's CD.

Im sure there was a Rocket from the Crypt song on last year's CD ("burnt alive"?) but if not i'd definitely recommend one of theirs as i think they should be recognised for their efforts of mentioning fire in about every song they write - the one with the best title is probably "A+ in Arson Class". Although i also have:

- Light Me
- Human Torch
- Ball Lightening
- Heater Hands
- Burnt Alive
- Chariots On Fire
- Hot Heart
- Ball Of Fire
- Burning Army Men

Does "fire" have to be in the title?? If not maybe these:

Metallica - Fuel (chorus: "give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which i desire")

Radiohead - You

ah a few errors on my part there! Yes Burnt Alive by RFTC was on last year's album - I typed that out from memory so not surprised I got one wrong! Also I have the Franz Ferdinand track on this year's album, not sure how I missed that one as it was on the screen in front of me! But then Ricardino was no excuse for suggesting the U2 song which was on last years, as it is written on this very thread!
I was wondering about having a couple of last year's tracks on again, but am still trying to avoid it, the main reason for this is I will be bringing last year's CD as well, so there's no real point in having the same song twice! As I said next year will probably be a best of, which could actually turn out to be a really good album (not that the other 2 aren't of course).
Cheers for the suggestions so far, I will try to get hold of them to have a listen and see if they are worthy of a place, although may need some of you to send them via MSN if I can't find them elsewhere. In the meantime if anyone has any other suggestions keep them coming! It isn't necessary to have fire in the title, or even a reference to fire (eg Duran Duran, REM, Leftfield from last year) but the general theme of the song must be fire-related.

Burn Piano Island burn - Blood Brothers
Fight Fire With Fire - Metallica
Oddfellows Local 151 - REM (chorus = "Firehouuuuusssseee" repeated about 40 times)
Slash n Burn - Manic Street Preachers (a good song actually, and if stereophonics can get on there....)

Poking The Fire - Shag Connors and the Carrot Crunchers
- found this when scanning the Wurzels website for fire songs, its on the same LP as "The Bristol City Streaker" which sounds interesting. I'll try and get hold of it...

Saw you had "Burning down the House" on last yr's record. I'd say no good compilation is complete without some Talking Heads, so I'd recommend (one of my favourites, even without the reference to fire - and one of the highlights of the song is the particularly repetition of the F word in David Byrne's getting weirder and weirder voice) "Love turns to building on fire" (Yes, that's the title, not a misspelling).

A Heads oddity, IMO the best version is from the live album "The Name of This Band is Talking Heads" (although the version on Sand in the Vaseline os perfectly incendiary as well).

Would Mr Brightside by The Killers be deemed a close enough link to Fire?
