I can't believe no-one has posted this before, as someone must have noticed it being constructed, but our prayers (and songs) have been answered and kebabs have returned to Nailsea, bigger and better than we have ever seen before!!

It seemed like a normal night walking back from the pub last night, when i turned the corner by the Dry Cleaners and was BLINDED by a sight even brighter than the green on our homepage... when my eyes recovered, they focused on the magnificant letters "KEBAB KITCHEN" above a shiny new shop where the phone place AND Rooneys used to be...

After a few minutes staring in disbelief I walked in for a closer look, to be greeted by FOUR blokes waiting to serve me (i think they'll soon learn that they don't really need this many serving staff on a Tuesday night in Nailsea) wearing matching football-shirt style uniforms.

Obviously i then ordered an Extra-Large Doner. As many of you know I like my kebabs as big as possible, and often either order between 2 to 4 of them, or bribe the waiter into giving me a double portion of lamb for a few quid more... but even i was amazed at the size of this beast. Without doubt the biggest kebab i have ever seen, for the bargain price of £4.70 (im not sure if this was just larger than normal because of it was their opening night, or because they seemed just as overjoyed to actually see a customer as i was to be there, but either way it was massive). It was also delicious, nice juicy meat, fresh tasting salad, lots of mayo, lovely.

And it wasn't just Doners they had on offer, oh no, this place has the full range, including shishes uncooked on skewers in an attractive display case so you can choose your own, koftes, vegetarians options (peppers, onions, mushrooms on a skewer), and an intimidating "House Special" that appeared to have everything in and cost £7.90. They also had a huge variety of other dishes: burgers, chicken nuggets and more exotic dishes such as "Kebab Bun" and the mysterious "Meat Bun".

All in all, it was a life changing experience. Since Mr Rooney shut his shop to go and play for Everton i never thought it could be replaced by anything as good, but this place is awesome. With Thatchers finally arriving at the Glasshouse, Crown Glass Place is fast becoming the culinary capital of Nailsea. My kebab rating 5 out of 5.

Other points of note:
- The kebab i had actually tasted nice when I was sober!
- I haven't got the sh!ts this morning!

Has anyone else been lucky enough to go to Kebab Kitchen yet? Any thoughts?

Shock.
Wonder how many people will be going through it on Friday night.
Perhaps they ought to make the Glass stay open 10 mins later than the RM bar now to give everyone an even chance of being first in the queue for the £5 mega kebab.

I can now add my voice to the praise of the Kitchen!
Chicken Kebab last night was absolutely stunning - they cook it on a skewer, and they use real lumps of white chicken, not the ground up red/orange stuff you get at most places. Add in the roasted onions, a decent salad and some Garlic Mayo and you can't ask for much more. Passes the test of being nice when sober, and no ill effects in the morning. Looking forward to my next visit, when I'm tempted to try the Jumbo £7.90 combination of Doner, Chicken, Kofte and Shish, all in one huge pitta, what a treat that is going to be.

With a heavy heart I have to denounce my endorsement of this latest addition to Nailsea's takeaway establishments.

Can I put it any clearer than this:

Look you stupid f*ckers, people buy kebabs, burgers, chicken nuggets etc from you because they are DRUNK. Therefore shutting before the pubs do prevents these drunk people from buying your food. Therefore you do not make money from these people. If people wanted to eat burgers sober they would buy them from Tesco and cook them themselves. No-one wants to eat kebabs sober. If you continue to shut at 11pm when the pubs shut at 12.30 you will not make any money. IT IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.

The same applies to the owners of ch1nese and Indian takeaways and restaurants in Nailsea and elsewhere - yor best business is to be done with people leaving the pubs, so why no stay open later and make yourselves some money?? It is not like people have a choice, you either eat junk food in Nailsea, or you go hungry (at least til you get home). We have tried walking to Clevedon and it doesn't work. Late night fast, crap food is needed in Nailsea, and if the shops in the position to supply it don't want to stay open late enough then they should be told to f*ck off and make way for people who do.

I managed a kebab friday (cos I went in early) and it was the best kebab I have ever had!

I do not claim to be an expert on kebabs but this one was good.

One small criticism, they put s**tty paper round it which ends up going soggy and being eaten. Oh, and I had to ask for a fork.

What a festival of eating last night was! Gents' house special had to be seen to be believed, they have to put the salad in a different box as it won't fit with the meat, and they provide a spare two pitta breads which apparently are to be used instead of hand and face towels. Credit also to the people in front in the queue, who both went for double half pound burgers, which meant four on top of each other to create a whole pound of burger, they let us hold to prove how heavy they were!

Fortunately in the age of camera phones much of this feasting has been captured fo posterity, and hopefully will be online in the next day or two.

Well obviously im not feeling great this morning, but nowhere near as bad as i thought i would be and no ill effects so far... It certainly was value for money, £7.90 for about 3 sheep and 6 chickens isn't bad at all. The last thing you want to see after all that is 2 more bloody pitta breads tho - just goes to show that they obviously class the House Special as 3 kebabs in one tho...
