Is anyone going to City v Clevedon at the Hand Stadium tomorrow night? It's Clevedon manager Steve Fey's testimonial so should be a decent crowd down there. And it's Darren Caskey's last (and first) Chance to egt a contract at City. It's £6 to get in, which I thought was a bit steep until I saw Kidderminster are charging £10 for the game v City on Wednesday! Still seems quite a lot considering only Butler and Murray are likely to actually start against Torquay, but will probably go along anyway, can always give Clevedon (suburb of Nailsea) a bit of abuse.

City's squad for the game is: Tynan, Davis, Holly, Butler, Fortune, Bell, Caskey, Loxton, Roberts, Anyinsah, Lita, Gillespie, Murray, Goodfellow, Skuse, Lucas, Flurry, Hawkins, Hart, Allward.

Yep me and Lord Lucan are going for 2, although i do resent giving my 6 quid to Steve Gey.

Tinman's first line-up against Torquay will be interesting, but i reckon Gillespie will have a really good chance of starting if he carries on like he has been, i'd say Bell was a definite too, and Fortune could have a really good chance judging by recent Tinman comments...

I think Bell v Goodfellow v Woodman for that left wing-back spot will go on all season, perhaps changing to suit circumstances rather than any being a regular, although I think you may be right that Bell will start, especially if Heffernan can actually head the ball. A photo caption on City's website from the Newport game says "Lee Miller doesn't miss headers from 6 yards" If only that were true, we'd have won 2-1 at Swindon and would be playing the likes of Leeds and West Ham not Torquay! I think Gillespie will be in for some Rooney-type protection and won't start many games early on. Fortune v Orr v Tinnion in midfield again will probably depend on circumstances, but if we're looking to attack I think he'll miss out, assuming Tins plays himself.

My prediction for line-up v Torquay: Phillips; Hill, Butler, Coles; Doherty, Orr, Tinnion, Murray, Bell; Heffernan, Miller. Subs: Gillespie, Roberts, Fortune, Goodfellow, Stowell(or other keeper).

I think Ian and I will be going to the game.

Looking forward to see Gillespie bang a few more in!

Apparently, Steve Highway (Liverpool Legend) suggested to GH that he should pick Gillespie for the first team squad at Liverpool last season. Typically GH ignored the good advice and decided he was too good for Liverpool! – Liverpool’s lost City’s gain.

Kick-off = 7.45

Me and Lord Lucan are leaving at 6:30 tonight, with view to getting a Thatchers in the Blue Flame on the way!

I dunno about Goodfellow at wing-back, he hasn't got the defensive qualities required i dont think, it'll be out of Bell v Woodman. Against Newport Goodfellow was played just behind the front 2 and apparently had a quality game, taking on players and getting in the box a lot, cant really see him getting in a 3-5-2 line-up at any other position than this. Tinman seems to class Fortune as more of a central defender too. Really lookin forward to seeing Gillespie tonight, and will be intersting to see how Caskey does.

Ah, so the reason for the endless pursuit of strikers becomes clearer, a new formation!
Would be interesting to see who would be right-back in a first choice 4-3-3, Fortune seems a bit tall for a full back, can't see Butler or Coles being shifted from the middle, whilst Bell, Hill and Woodman are all left-sided. Amankwaah's still about a month from kicking a ball, so really not sure! Also wonder whether Murray would be in midfield, or competing with Roberts as the right-sided striker? Should be interesting tonight though, hopefully a good stuffing for the suburb.

Good performance by City, won 9-1, with a big crowd there, almost all City fans, which farcically meant a delayed kick-off.
Goals from Gillespie, Roberts 2, Lita, Murray, Anyinsah, Flurry 2 and Butler.
Bell and Roberts were the best of the first team players, although Anyinsah was quality when he came on, very fast on the left wing - the new Aaron Brown but better? Flurry scored the best goal with a volley into the top corner from the edge of the box. Lita and Gillespie didn't do much, but Gillespie took his goal well - a 20 yard lob.
Defence didn't look too good - Butler got beaten too often and Fortune seemed to get his feet tangled a couple of times. The 2nd half trialist keeper, Tynan, did better than the one in the first half, couple of good saves including a flying tip round the post.
Caskey - didn't stop screaming for the ball, always looking for it dropping deep often just in front of the defence. Hit some great passes including a quality chip to set up Roberts' 2nd. But...he is still a fat man, he didn't win a tackle and got knocked off the ball a few times, and his asking for the ball in impossible positions must have annoyed the others. And worst of all from his own point of view he didn't finish the game, limping off just short of the hour with an ice pack on his calf. My suspicion is that whilst he looked good against a poor, even for the own standard Clevedon team, in the faster pace of League One he just wouldn't get the time he needs.

Looks like Caskey is going to be given another chance against Yeovil. It was a shame he got injured cause he was running the show. He is by far the most creative player city have got and the rest of the lads looked as though they enjoyed playing with him. He had Bell in stitches when he fell over but still managed to pass the ball by doing a bicycle kick.
