City are expected to sign Steve Brooker today from Port Vale for fee that could rise to £225,000.

Surely Roberts or Miller have to go now?

Agreed. The number of forwards is stupid, how can you expect any consistancy when you are tempted by so many options everytime one goes a game without scoring/playing well ?!!

You go to every match Gents, let's have your thoughts ?

Last 4 home games we have scored 4,5,2 and 3. We already have 6 strikers. We are leaking goals left, right, centre and mainly from set pieces. The board have refused to open the East End to home fans in spite of the huge boost it gave the team last year because it would cost £70,000. We are still (I think) in around £2m debt. And now we have spent £225k on a striker!
I think Miller will go, hopefully we can get around £150k for him (1/4 of what we paid), I think Roberts is working well with Lita and finished last season strongly, although now we have a target man I suppose the style of play will change to suit that.

I think it's a bit crazy, firstly because it's a lot of money for Div 2 striker with one good season (and not a lot of goals) under his belt, who is out of contract in the summer. Also because weve had no trouble scoring goals this season but have severe problems keeping them out at the other end, would have thought we'd be looking to strengthen defence/goal-keeping. AND becuase we have 3 good strikers who can't get in the team, plus goodfellow, anyinsah, etc who can play up front.

If anyone goes, Roberts seems most people's first choice to be shown the door. But he's starting every game at the moment, and since he's been recalled City have won 3, draw 1, lost 1 and played Everton off the park... is Tinnion really gonna leave him out? I think he can do a job at this level, but is probably as good as he'll get and not sure if he'll cut it in Div.1

Miller and Gillespie can't seem to do much right at the moment in the manager's eyes, they were both awesome when they came on at Bournemouth and changed the game, both young and both look like great prospects. Miller has had a few more games, got about 10 goals last year which ain't a bad start in English football, but he's never had a decent run in the team, think he would do well if he got one, a player like him will just get better has he becomes stronger and wiser. We would be crazy to let either of these go, or obviously Lita, so i'd have to reluctantly say roberts can go if anyone has to.

Unfortunately i wont be able to see Brooker in action tonight as he is cup-tied due to playing for Port Vale last night! Only City could let something like this happen.

I think that managers should prove themselves before being given loads of cash, Tinnion has inherited a good squad and been allowed to get in couple of players. He should sort out what he has got before he starts buying more, we're in enough debt!

I think it is a waste of a signing. We get one in for 225k, we'll let one go for about 125k, and there is no guarntee that the one coming in is any better?! Before you go splashing your cash, at least give the ones you have got a chance like Gents has said.... give Miller or Hefferman a 10 game run and see what happens.

For someone like Gillespie to get a run there would have to be some drastic injuries kicking in.

Reading the main site tonight it looks like one or two of our existing 7 strikers will go (in the next few weeks) and then make way for defender (a what) may come in on a free or loan. So who is in for the chop.

1. Lita, 100-1 can't be that stupid
2. Heffs, 66-1 Surley won't get rid of his 1st signing
3. Miller, 3-1 Because he is young may have a chance of staying
4. Roberts, 2-1 Has been in favour latley but has to be fav
5. Gillespie, 6-1 Wilson signing but has lots of potential
6. Goodfellow, 4-1 Not in favour at all but can play elsewhere
7. Cotterill, 10-1 Don't know much about him bar coming through the youths

Last night has puzzled me about this even more - why the hell weren't Miller and Gillespie even in the squad??? Would have been perfect chance to give them a run out, and give Lita a rest. They weren't even in the squad for friendly against Forest Green on tuesday. Makes me think that one of them or maybe both could be off soon - hopefully on loan - which i think would benefit them both if they can't get any type of game at City.

The thinking behind it surely can't of been trying out Lita and Heff as a partnership, because it looks pretty certain Brooker and Lita will start on saturday, and if not i would have thought it would be Lita and Roberts.

Port Vale wanted to take Roberts in part-exchange for Brooker, but he didn't want to go, and City must have been reasonably keen to keep him, so im thinking less today that he will be the one to leave. Don't think Goodfellow will be judged on the same criteria as the other strikers because he offers us more, by being able to play on both wings - he's been injured more so than out-of-favour this year. Cotterill is only 16, a YTS player who looks to have a good future and wont be getting paid much anyway so would make no sense in getting rid of him. Miller or Gillespie or both out on loan i reckon.

I don't understand what's going on, i haven't seen City much this year but at the end of last year Gillespie was all set to be our next goalscoring hero. He played well in the friendly at Clevedon Town but doesn't seem to have been given a chance recently.

I think Tinnion's lost the plot.

I wonder if Tinman rushed into signing Hefferman, as he seems certain to feature even less than he has done with Brooker coming in ? And maybe he just doesn’t rate Miler and Gillespie, after all, they were Wilson's signings ?

I think he'll make his 4 forwards : Lita, Brooker, Hefferman and, Roberts.
Miller will get the push, and perhaps Gillespie to go also, or out on Loan.

Not particularly surprising after he was left out of the squad the other week. Think he's a decent player on his day, but looks like Brooker's been signed to be the man making chances and Roberts finishing isnt good enough to be the man to take them.

Bet Cotterill can hardly wait to fill Roberts' Taff-Chav boots (currently plays for Wales under-17s - http://www.bcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~574241,00.html)
