Posted - 02/06/2005 : 14:22:46 I was suprised he didn't do any of his famous songs in Cardiff but I guess it would be difficult to do Tears in Heaven with a Boogie Woogie band. It was all bashed together quite quick too which probably meant his usual band were unavailable.
Sure he would do more of a greatest hits at Glasto.
P.S. Got the new Coldplay album and it sounds pretty good so far.

Posted - 02/06/2005 : 13:26:29 I expect he is one the 'world class acts' that's already turned it down. It would be brilliant, but when he played the tsunami gig he played all his new blues stuff and none of his well known songs.

Posted - 02/06/2005 : 12:03:49 From NME.com:
"THE KILLERS have turned down a headline slot at GLASTONBURY – but insisted they want to do it in 2007.
The band were hotly rumoured to be moving from their slot second on the bill at this years event (June 24) to closing the final night on the Pyramid Stage (June 26). The slot became vacant when Kylie Minogue was forced to pull out after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
But speaking exclusively to NME.COM, Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci said the band were flattered to be approached, but the band were united in agreement that, after releasing just one album, they’re not ready to step up to the headline slot yet.
He said: “We were offered the headlining slot but we didn’t take it because we’re basically a band that’s been around for, as far as the UK’s concerned, a little over a year. So we didn’t think we were deserving of a headlining slot, we’re just happy to be playing in a good spot at Glastonbury anyway. We only have one album out.” "
Good to see they've got more sense than the organisers. Surely they can find someone who's up for it???

Posted - 01/06/2005 : 15:55:15 Apparently the guardian thing isnt 100% correct, no ideas what isn't as I'm sure most is accurate. Glasto official site has definitive version by day, although only main 2 stages last time I checked. Looks like Killers are definitely keeping their original slot, so the Sunday mystery goes on.

Posted - 01/06/2005 : 15:37:30 The Guardian have 'exclusively' revealed the line-up today. No major surprises and doesn't seem to be any different to what was released months ago. Worth a read though.

Posted - 26/05/2005 : 14:06:16 If you look at the timings of the posts, you will see I was typing my original views on the Killers headlining while Rich was putting the link on saying they werent, then I immediately found the efestivals story, and reproduced it for everyone's information, and hadnt noticed Rich had posted the link in the meantime as it was above my post. Whilst the other week Rich put a story on, and about 2 hours later you put the same thing on, with no other posts in between! Chav. |

Posted - 26/05/2005 : 13:17:56 And now this from efestivals:
Despite Glastonbury Festivals' own website recently confirming that The Killers would be playing the Sunday headline slot on the Pyramid Stage, the article has now been removed, and the situation has changed again.
Currently, The Killers are NOT going to be playing on the Sunday, but negotiations are continuing, and it might still happen. However, after all the media fuss this morning, and the sudden withdrawal of the confirmation, we think it's now likely that another act might well move into the slot. Who it might be is still in the air. |

The worst thing about this announcement is that if effectively leaves Glasto a band light, as Keane move into the Killers' slot, presumbly all other bands will also just shuffle up the order, and there will either be 1 band less or something crap at the start. On the other hand you could just say there's no less good bands playing than there were in the first place! Either way, remember the festival closes with a cider bus singalong, a huge fire ,and maybe even another egg-finding mission, so who's last on the stage is not that important!
