Today I have to report the sad news that The Glasshouse in Nailsea has got rid of the old still Thacthers and replaced it with the not-very-nice sparkling stuff, and even more tragically the price has shot up from £1.75 a pint to £2.20!!! We signalled our disgust to the Glasshouse staff by going on a Thatchers drinking strike, and delivered a damming blow to the new Thatchers after our team "Bring Back The Old Thatchers" romped to victory in last night's quiz!
In better news, I discovered a rare good point about Portishead yesterday too - the Windmill pub by the golf course sells Thatchers, and this is the proper stuff.
They replaced it with Sparkling Thatchers, like they have in the Bunch of Grapes if youve ever been there (if you haven't, you might tomorrow!). It's OK, but not as nice as the rough Thatchers.
