Hi HMZ-ers.

I wondered whether you'd definitely decided to press this year. I know we talked about it earlier (I tried to resurrect the older thread but couldn't add posts to it, so started this new one), and you were keen, but I didn't think you'd finalised anything

We're hoping to press on the weekend of the 5th/6th Nov. Before then, I've got a bit of time off (from the 5th to the 14th of Nov) and for some of that time I'm hoping to be around the Hereford/West Country area and hoping to be doing some cidery things.

I wondered whether you'd be pressing at any time when I was free. I'd love to come and join you (if you'd have me!).

We have tentatively booked the 9th October for apple picking and the following weekend to press. How long the pressing lasts depends alot on how many apples we can get. By all accounts the 'arvest has not been so good this year and supplies are a bit scarce.

You are, of course more than welcome to join us and if you are donw in the West at some point the very least we should do is arrange to meet up and tour some on Bristle's finest cider related establishments.

Yes us HMZ-ers are pooling resources with Al Caholic this year for cider making, and have just changed the plan slightly to have a trial pressing run on the weekend of 15th, and a main pressing weekend on the 22nd/23rd.

AND, Im actually in London on the weekend you are pressing, got quite a lot planned but it would be great if i could call in on your pressing for a bit and see how things are going if thats ok? I'll get a few photos for our website too.

Definitely interested in any cider crawls that take place too!

You're definitely welcome to come to our pressing if you're around. Let us know nearer the time, and we'll give you directions and times.

Unfortunately I'm going to be abroad on holiday on both of the weekends you're going to be doing cider things. We go away on the 14th and return on the 30th Oct. Good luck with it, though, and do let us see some photos.

Yeah it's about time everyone branched into cider here, I could think of some great ciders that would slide nicely down the throat in this hot weather hhmmm (got cravings now, need to think of the bad sides of cider). They drink enough cloudy/pure apple juice here so why not an alcholic version? Pissed off with seeing Woods**ter & Strongbow. I've been tryin to think of a Disney cider name but can't come up with one.

To have any chance of making cider here I would need your help Gents. Free accomodation!!!

Al, nothing has blow away here yet (touch wood) but still 2 months of the season to go.

Ha Ha, I think Goofy's been on the cider the way he talks. Al, get on a plane we need to sell MAS at theme parks and charge $20 a go. Then we would have to branch out and make one for each caracter (Plutos Pulp, Lilo & Fall Down, Goofy's Barn Brew, Buzz Light).

Well we picked up our apples yesterday, it wasnt exactly a harvest for the world but the limited selection of apples we were lucky enough to get looked and tasted delicious. A few bramleys were throng into the mix along with our Kingston Blacks so it should turn out to be an interesting brew when we press them next week.

Some pictures of apple picking are now on the website.

Light showers due for Saturday which doesn't sound good, we may need to obtain a gazebo to house the shredders as we cant run them in the rain. Anyone got one we can use?

The forecast has improved with cloud and no rain due for saturday and sunday is due to be sunny! http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml
Will probably be completely wrong tho so we could still do with a gazebo as back-up, just been scanning some websites and nowhere seems to sell them at this time of year, so if everyone can ask around to try and get one that would be good.

I'll have a look in town at lunch cos im off to buy some campden tablets for sterilising our barrels.
