"It doesn't make sense to hand a place to a club based on a knockout competition, almost a one-off, when other clubs have shown quality over a full league season to get in the top four."
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry. That's Liverpool, who qualified for the 2006 Champions League despite finishing outside the top four, after their success in a 'one-off cup'.
I think you are forgetting what cup that was 'small club supporter'
Talking of small clubs... have we got any Chelsea fans on this forum to explain why there stadium only had 24,000 fans at their first champions league match of the season... embarrassing :)
What difference does that make ships? Its still a one off cup competition!
It was also nice to see your players taking a penalty decision well after the shameful scenes of Saturday monrning! Correct me if im wrong but was Rafa not slating Chelsea for the way they react to officials? Pot Kettle Black!!
Don’t know what you are talking about Smithy. Sounds like you are still bitter about getting stuffed by Arsenal at the weekend!
Anyway, are you boys excited about playing in Europe tonight? To be honest I haven’t heard of the teams you have been drawn against but I wish you all the best.
Everton v Metalist Tottenham v Anorthosis
p.s. Chelsea are doomed… at least they have 3 years of history to look back on now!
Dont know what im talking about? Well I still have match of the day recorded so I will lnd it to you! Then you can see the shameful scenes of liverpool players surrounding the ref and lino moaning about the pen (which was defo a pen by the way)
Thanks for the wishes of luck for spurs but as the 6-1 scoreline suggested - we didnt need it.
liverpool were lucky yesterday. negative football at home! i would have taken a draw at the start of the game but after watching it i am very disappointed we didnt get all 3!!
Liverpool are going through a bad spell but injuries aren’t helping. Alonso and Torres injuries haven't helped us play our usual passing and creative game. I’m not saying they are a one man team but if Arsenal didn’t have Cesc they would struggle.
There was still plenty of hoofing going on in the first half with them on the pitch though. Which makes it even stranger why he persists with that useless gypo Voronin ahead of Crouch, who was the only Liverpool player to even have a shot other than Gerrard in the first half.
