totally disagree, why do you have to go for well known managers, Wilson has never been a success at any club Sheff wed he got the boot from the local mp's and at barnsley he took over a very good team and f"cked them up. Every year the min requirment was promotion 4 years on and still we are the brides maid.

he thought he would get himself a nice little job before he gets sacked, he thinks to himself a pedo stayed there for years without getting sacked so i'm onto a winner. they are not used to winning so no one expects anything from me.

I don't really think we need a "big name" manager, in fact a manager who knows divisions lower than the Premiership would probbaly be more suitable, someone who has experience of competing against these frustrating second division 2 clubs and beating them, as its been the lower-placed teams that we have often struggled to turn over this year.
Sturrock, Holloway & McGee weren't exactly big-name managers when they took over at the 3 clubs that have just been promoted, but they did a job of getting their teams out of this division on much more limited resources than Wilson. Our priority has to be to get in Division One, and we need a man who can do this.
Im all for stability when it comes to managers, and think many are sacked far too rashley, but you can't just argue for stability just for stabilitys sake. The slow progress that Wilson was making appears to have ceased, he ran out of ideas last year, doesn't look like he has any fresh ones, and the only stability he can offer is stability as a 2nd Div side. It's time for someone fresh to come in and get us out of this division and where we belong.

I would love to see Peter Taylor as I think he would be great at taking advantage of the academy and integrating the young players into the side.
Other than that maybe Fawthorp and Tinman double act to keep it real.

if i rememeber right i think Taylor has applied for the City job twice before, and been turned down twice. Once when he had just left England u21's, we appointed Pulis instead(!?!??!?) and Taylor went to Gillingham, and then the year after we chose Wilson over Taylor. I think so anyway, not 100% sure. Whether he would come now, i dunno, he wouldn't be cheap i'd imagine... I think City and Taylor could be good together tho, i'd have more confidence of him getting the best out of our generally young squad then many of the other managers we may be able to attract.

Gentz,
I think the reason he was rejected before was because of the advice of someone behind the scenes at city who is no longer there. I think he would be a good manager for city, but like you say, would he want to come now? |
