Yep - the stall is still boarded up and the Italian pasta place opposite has expanded by putting tables and chairs out for it's customers. I was going to have a word with them, but I didn't want to wake up next to a severed horse's head...
However, all is not lost.
The stall didn't smell of decaying cheese when I went past, which means it hasn't been abandoned. Also, the adjacent stall (fruit and veg) had a note up saying that they are on holiday till 9th Sept. Maybe Mr Cheesman is on holiday as well? Is he having an affair with Miss Fruit and Veg? She's also European, so I wouldn't put it past him, as it seems he is quite partial to our continental brethren (or sisteren, whatever the girlie equivelent is).
So maybe this is not the end of Bristol's most famous cheese emporium, but it would have been nice if he'd told us and save us from going through this stress and worry, and worst of all, making me buy cheese from bleedin Tesco. |

I had a look too. He could have told us if he was off on holiday so we could have stocked up the I.T. fridge with Cropwell Bishop. I had a similar thought that Cheeseman and Madame Brie (the Cheeseman's wife) may have gone on holiday and left Miss Cheese (the Cheeseman's daughter) in charge, as she seems somewhat reluctant to carry on the family business she has done a massive skive and has been hanging around Weston beach for the last 2 weeks.
I thought the two stalls next to Cheeseman that were shut were PortugeseFoodMan and SausageMan? I did see the sign from PortugeseFoodMan and thought "yeah right, i bet he's really gone on holiday to Southend and is just saying he's gone to Portugal to maintain his exotic image".

Generally anyone who provides us with food is classed as a superhero, there is also OliveMan, GoatCurryMan and KebabMan... well several KebabMen actually.

He's back!
Well, it aint Mark - he's "gone" according to the new cheese emporium tennants. Didn't want to ask really as the replacement Mr. Cheeseman wasn't forthcoming but who cares - the cheese is back.
No Cropwell Bishop at the moment, but it's on it's way, along with the usual fine selection of cheesy comestibles.
Job's a winner.

Bad news for cheese fans, the cheese stall was all boarded up today with the notice "this stall is closed until further notice" on the side.
