Just to clarify the following are defined as major domestic honours:

Division Two Champions: 1905/06
Division Three (south) Champions: 1922/23, 1926/27, 1954/55
Freight Rover Trophy Winners: 1985/86
LDV Vans Trophy Winners: 2003
Welsh Cup Winners: 1934
Anglo-Scottish Cup Winners: 1978

The Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup are defined as minor domestic honours.

Don’t agree with you Smithy

Because on this forum Spurs and Everton fans are preaching about a competition they have never come close to winning.
Liverpool have won everything!
I don’t care about other fans warming to Liverpool.

In a way I'm actually quite pleased Liverpool won the Champions League in 2005, and have reached the final again!

The CL has been undermined and devalued by allowing more and more clubs into it, and as Smithy pointed out, it is now harder to win the Premiership than the CL.

So, whilst Shippers and the other Liverpool fans celebrate winning the Chumpions League, and cling the hope that its still means Liverpool are best side in England, the Likes of Chelsea and Man Utd get better and better than Liverpool, and more importantly, real football clubs, like Spurs and Everton, get closer and closer to being better than Steven Gerrard (Sorry, I mean Liverpool!!!)

It will not be long now before Chelsea and Man U will be fighting it out for the title, and Spurs Everton and Arsenal will be fighting it out gor the 3rd 4th and 5th places.

Unless, of course, Liverpool see sense, Kick out the Spanish, and get some more GOOD players.

Just to add, i can not agree that the League is harder to win than Europe. Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal have dominated winning the league in the last decade, but have only won the European Cup once.

To win the European cup not only do you have to finish in the top 4 but you then have to go on to be the last man standing with another 31 of Europes top teams.

It is hard to compare as it is not apples with apples, but at the beginning of the season you would get longer odds (think that is right!) for Man U, Cheski or Arsenal to win the CL than you would for them to win the league. Thus i believe this backs up my opinion that it is harder to win the CL.

As for Liverpool not winning the Premiership, you are correct Tone, but we have won the league god knows how many times - and it is the same thing. The Premiership is just a title, and it does annoy me. When they say things like Shearer is the highest scorer, and Andy Cole is 2nd.... what??? This is not comparing all time greats, it should be top flight scorers and include Lineker, Keegan, Chapman, Rush, Sharpe, Hughes, McClair, Mark Robins etc - bloody Sky sh1t!

Rant over.

Mark Robins' status as all time great will be confirmed on Saturday, if his team loses

I think it's about time that Shippers & Smithy settled this disagreement in time honoured tradition - fisticuffs! Having said that, Shippers will get injured before it happens, & rule himself out, & Smithy won't be arsed to turn up! Carry on chaps, as you were!

All top clubs aspire to winning the biggest trophy in European football. The European cup.

Liverpool have another opportunity to do this, and have proved they are a top European side.

As for kicking out the Spanish, what a ridiculous comment! Are we saying replace them with English? We already have the best English players in the country in Gerrard, Carragher and Pennant
No other English player is good enough i'm afraid.

I think Robbie has been outside in the sun to long with his 'I wanna look like Smithy Haircut'.

Jermaine Pennent one of the best players in England? Have a word. Leon Osman is 10 times the player Pennent will ever be. Also he doesn't have a Criminal record!

And as for Jamie Carragher; Who would you rather see playing in an England shirt? Him, or the Living Legend that is Joleon Lescott. I mean, have you seen his crazy hairline?

And Steven Gerrard? The guy has got no bottle. If he was a truly world class player, he would want to prove him self against the best. But instead of joining a true top class side like chelsea he chose to be a big fish, in a small stagnant pond and stayed at Liverpool.

The sooner he gets dropped from the England side, and Jermaine Jenas gets the place at the heart of midfield, that is rightly his, the sooner England will win something.

Finally some good has come from Liverpool making the final - Bradley Orr wants to avoid the playoffs so he can go to Athens.

p.s. Joleon Lescott is a Klingon

Lads,

Some quality bant as always, some of it complete rubbish and some spot on.

As for Gerrard having no bottle, that is the most ridiclous statement ever. How many times has he popped up for Liverpool AND England with important goals and saved us. Agreed that he does more than most for Liverpool but lets not forget his influence with England. Scored against Germany in the 5-1 battering. Scored against Swedan in the 2-2 draw and most recently was the most up for it player against the useless Andorrans and scored again.
The one player who surprises me time and again at let alone getting in the England squad is Jenas!!! What does he have that is so much better than Nolan at Bolton or Parker at Newcastle. Can't believe it.

As for comparing Pennent to Osman, behave. Osman is barely out of pampers!!!!!!

I totally agree with the Dog's points that it is harder to win the Champions league as you have to have finished in the top 4 in the last season. Therefore this normally leaves the best 4 teams in England (Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool & Arsenal) to go for the CL. The last time a team outside these 4 did this (Everton) i believe they were knocking out in the qualifying round (although they did get a tough draw against Villarael)

Liverpool are NOT the best team in England. It is obvious that this title over the past few seasons has to go to Chelsea or this year Man U. Arsenal have fallen away a bit although i expect them to return next year much stronger.
BUT should Liverpool win the CL, then they CAN call themselves the best team in Europe and this cannot be denied as they would have beaten the rest.

T-Man.....
How can you say that Liverpool are NOT the best team in England and then in the same post say that if they win the CL they will be the best team in Europe??

Worst statement I have ever heard. Shocking.....

Robbie T:

Leon Osman is not barely out of pampers: He was born on 17.05.1981, which makes him 25.

He is also 1.73 metres tall, which makes him considerably taller than you!
